How to Smile as a Sales (7' Speech)

Before we go into the main point, I'd like to tell you a little story of mine. I was the secretary of my boss before I became a sales. After a long-time working as a secretary, I requested a sales position from my boss. For why? First, I became feeling boring as a secretary. Second, also the most important, sales could earn more money! But my boss refused at his first reaction. He said,"Angelice, you're more suitable for a secretary or a HR manager than a sales."
"Why? I've learn a lot about how to do business from you, Frank."I said.
"I know you learn and work with your heart and soul, but you're still not qualified as a sales. For the first thing, you don't know how to smile as a sales."
At that time, I was really confused, but I still appriciated my boss telling me the truth and giving me some suggestions.
I got to know why my boss supposed I couldn't be a sales.
I took everything so seriously, I could work hard to make for a task directed by my boss, but I couldn't interact with peoples with sense of humor. Otherwise, when I tried to sell jewellery in the fairs, I was too alert to speak to the customers normally, just watching the piles of products nervously, being afraid of lossing one of them.
You know, lossing one maybe costs 1-2 months salary of mine.But how could the sales make for that? Didn't they be afraid? Why they could handle the customers' questions so well but still keep an eye on the products easily and smile wonderfully?
I started to oberve and learn. I also practised my smiling face in front of the mirror everyday.
After a long-time studying, I discover that a good smile do really relate to the people's looking. Some smile nicely. Even though they don't smile, they seem like smiling. Such as Angela and Gina, when they smile, they attract everybody. But unfortunate for someone like me, when they smile, they seem like weeping.
However, it doesn't matter. I find that even the peoples like me could smile nicely,friendly,and smile as a sales.
How? Firstly,Have a Right Attitude. If you're in high pressure, you must keep your head calm and relaxed. Accordding to my career, I should say to myself,"No risk no gain, just relax!"
Secondly, Be Confident. Be confident of yourself, be confident of your company, of your products.
Thirdly, Be Professional at Your Career. If you can't help your customers deal with the problems, your customers won't smile, then you won't either.
Last,Be Sincere to Everyone. Not only to your customers, but also to the peoples arround you. If they need your help, just help them sincerely in action, instead superficially. If you do so,you'll feel the happiness seeping from the bottom of your heart. Then you'll smile better and better.
I keep these four rules in my mind and work hard on them.
When some customers said they only wanna talk to Angelice, and when they brought me nice presents from all over the world, I smiled. Then when my boss told me I'd been qualified as a sales and could be in charge of a wholesale shop, I smiled into tears.

Change the Heredity of My Family (6' speech)

Ladies and gentlemen,good evening!
It was a pity that I didn't finish my presentation in one minute last time.But I've told you what character I am actually. No matter what shortcomings I have, I believe all the members here could help me sincerely to grow up the abilities I need.
Why I am so eager to improve myself? Honestly, I'm ambitious. And the other reason is that I'd like to change some heredities that my parents pass to me. You know, the genes inside everybody passed by their old generations, their ancestors.
I was born in a common chaozhou family. As many Chinese know,chaozhou people are good at doing bussiness very much. Maybe it's ture except my family. When I was young, my father actually did some bussiness. However he lost all his money because not open-minded.
At that time,I was about to graduate from high school. But my family was too poor to send me to university. Fortunetely,my uncle lent us money so that I could continue and finish learning in the university.
Then my mother, a very kind-hearted and very cute lady.She's lucky because she's the only daugther in her family and she have 5 brothers who cares about her and love her very much. Everybody said it was so kind of my mother when they first met her because her sweet smile and kind reception. But actually she was so tough, powerful-minded that she wanted to control everyone in my family, perticularly my father. No matter what things we did, my father, my brother and I must listen and follow her suggestions. If we didn't, she would insist on us doing so by all means.
I always thought no open-mind maybe was half a reason for my father's failure, then my mother must contributed the other half.
Back to now, I married three years ago.And my brother is also going to marry in this year. Everytime when my husband told me I was saying the same words as our mother said, and when my brother told me no murmur like our father, I paused into thinking and promise them not to do it again.
Because I didn't want the same failure to happen again among us. Though there are many failures still ahead in our lives, we must learn how to take the advantage of the failures we made, before and even our parents, the old generations, the acestors made. Therefore, we could avoid taking the mistakes again and agian.We could lead a better life and make a more successful career with our efforts.
And I believe I could be a woman that contribute to my family and our society better with your help!

Were you surprised that you weren’t asked to complete a 13th look?
Jillian, I don’t know if you saw it, but God, all she talked about was like, “There’s going to be a surprise challenge! There’s going to be a surprise challenge!” I was like, “Ooh! Let’s make three outfits!” The thing is, that’s my game. I can make an outfit in a day. Jillian can’t, so that would have eliminated her. But I knew they wouldn’t do anything like that because there had already been a huge trick with Chris and Rami.

Have you ever done a model casting before? You said that you were specifically looking for darker-skinned girls. The lack of color on runways has been criticized – what’s your take on it?
I have done small casting before but I was looking for edgy girls with dark features for the first half then dark ethnic girls for the second half. I needed the dark complexion to make the cream pop! I love ethnic women – they have such a wonderful look. I wish designers felt the same.
Rami said that Jillian was getting annoying over her model choices, how tense was it in the workroom then?Rami was the one who said Jillian was being annoying with her model casting and I was like, “Yes! Finally! Somebody else but me is being bitchy!” For me, I knew exactly what type of girl I wanted and what type of girl I like. For her, she picked the girls who looked like the girls who would wear her clothes, which is fine if you’re picking the clothes out for certain people, but she just didn’t know how to book a show and to look for cohesion. It was annoying, and I felt bad, but then again this is the game. Everyone’s like, oh, I’m so immature and I’m so young, but she’s young too. There are things she doesn’t know as well. So, don’t tell me I don’t know what I’m doing.

What was going through your mind when you approached Bryant Park and when you had to introduce your collection?
I was just all too much for one person to do! I was sooooo tired, I almost had no feelings! Never does a designer have a show with no help from a team of people! But I did it so I guess it can be done!

How did you choose the music for your collection? How important is the music to a runway show?
The music for me was sooo important – it’s the entire package that the judges were looking for. I wanted to win so I knew good hard music would put them in the wow mood.
What was your inspiration for your collection?I was originally inspired by 18th Century Spanish paintings similar to the Met challenge. Then it evolved organically into a world of hard versus soft and dark versus romance.

OK – let’s address the critics. What do you say to someone who thinks you ripped off Alexander McQueen?
Luckily I haven’t heard a lot of negative responses to my collection so far. I haven’t really heard that it looks like Alexander McQueen. I, of course, have my references, but nobody is re-inventing themselves every time. With every designer you could reference like, “Oh wow, that looks very Dior,” but it’s McQueen. You could say McQueen looks very Dior or Dior looks very McQueen this season, you know? Trust me, I’ve worked there. McQueen would pick up Vivienne Westwood dresses and be like, “This pocket is really cool, let’s do it.” Designers reference other designers all the time, you just might not see that. And you know what? If somebody wants to compare me to Alexander Mcqueen, I’m not worried. That’s fine with me, people!

How do you balance between “costume” and “wearable?”
I hate the terminology of “costume” because my clothes are not costumes at all. I think they’re high fashion, avant-garde, and more couture, definitely, and yes, some of my pieces are not particularly wearable, but I wouldn’t say they’re costumes, I’d say they’re more couture. I feel the best way to design is to be as creative as possible in every piece. It’s so much easier to make 20 different variations of a really crazy, outlandish piece and to tone it down. It’s really hard to take like a T-shirt and vamp it up a million different ways to make it really interesting. Like, it’s harder that way, because you’re starting with nothing. It’s easier to start with something so outlandish and go down. That’s my interpretation. That’s why I enjoyed the avant-garde challenge. To be honest, I don’t think any other designer from any other season could have made what we made. It was kind of like, that was what we were trying to prove, like, “What up, people! This is our game!”

Did you just know that Victoria Beckham would like your collection?
In the back of my head, I’m not going lie, I was like, “Victoria’s the judge. This is me.” She’s who I design for! She’s English, she’s from Europe, she’s very very into high fashion, and some of her favorite designers are McQueen and Chanel and Lagerfeld, you know? I knew there was no way she was not going to like what I did. It was amazing because she’s someone I would actually want to try to dress. I actually think I said when we first started and Bravo asked us all who we’d want to dress, I’m pretty sure I said Victoria Beckham. Well, and I said Britney, but actually I said I wanted to save Britney! My new goal in life is to come up with my new reality show called Project Britney where I transform her and I save her life and make her the most fabulous person ever! She needs a gay! She has no gays! Have you ever noticed that? She has no gay boys helping her! She only has straight people and, no offense, but straighties don’t know how to fix the divas! It’s so weird! I’ve never seen any gay stylists working her.

What are you going to spend the money on?
I’m going to spend the money on taking over my apartment, first of all. My roommate, when she moves out, I’m going to just keep her room for myself. I’m also going to get a studio space. I’m going to finally get a bed! I’m going to spend a lot of money on a fabulous bed. All the rest will probably just go to next season.
I’ve showed to a couple stores, so I’ve had a couple buyers, but I’m going to show next season. I’ll probably show in the tent again, I’m going to do a big show. Next season will be more me. It’s hard because I’ve been working so hard on this collection and I can’t really sell it. Next season, my designs will be fair game, don’t worry!

My Lovely Holiday

There were three-day-vacation on Labor Day. I went back home and had some good time with my friends, doing some shopping, going arround some exhibition, and so on. It was lovely.

Whales' Lifes---Please Protect Them

On Nov. 18, a fleet of four Japanese vessels left Shimonoseki harbor in Western Japan to begin its five-month whale hunt in the Antarctic Ocean. This time, however, the whalers are planning what's expected to be its largest hunt in decades; along with about 850 minke and 50 finback whales, the fleet says it plans to harpoon as many as 50 humpback whales for the first time since hunting the endangered species was banned in 1963.

From Jonah’s whale to Moby Dick, man has created and perpetuated many myths about the mysterious whale. And the biggest rumor of all is true.

Whales are indisputably the largest animals to ever inhabit the earth. Blue whales are even bigger than dinosaurs.

How big are they? That’s hard to know, since whales are shy about jumping on the bathroom scales. Historically, that scale was on a whaling vessel, where weighing was done in a hurry to make room for the next victim. Weights weren’t and aren’t always accurate, though it’s much easier to estimate a whale’s length. Blues are the longest at around 30 mtrs (100 ft) long.
Blue whales are found in Antarctica, along with Fin, Humpback, Killer, Minke, Sei, and Right whales. These whales belong to the Order called Cetacea – which means large sea creature – and cetaceans are divided into two sub-orders: baleen whales (Mysticeti) and toothed whales (Odontoceti).

All whales are carnivores, but the different species prefer slightly different diets. Blue whales are baleen whales, which means that the biggest whale actually eats the smallest animals.

Baleen Whales

Baleen whales mostly eat zooplankton, such as krill, by filtering massive amounts of these tiny creatures through comb-like plates that hang from their upper jaws. These whales have huge skulls that are specially adapted to this food-filtering lifestyle. A baleen whale’s skull can take up a third of its body length.

Each species varies some in the look, feel and specific function of its baleen. Coarse baleen that is spread wider apart filters out larger prey, and finer baleen that is closer together filters out smaller prey. The baleen itself is keratin, which isn’t really bone at all but the stuff from which fingernails and hooves are made. Whalers apparently didn’t care about the details, since they hunted “whalebone” (baleen) and sold it to manufacture human essentials such as umbrella ribs, corsets, and brushes.

Baleen whales are further divided into rorquals, which have grooves that run the length of their throats and expand during feeding, and Right whales, which feature extremely long baleen designed for dining while swimming.

Most baleen whales are rorquals. They include Minkes, Sei whales, Fin whales, Blues and Humpbacks. Right whales had the misfortune of being the “right” whale to hunt in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Baleen whales have two breathing holes, and they can actually breathe at the same time they eat. This is a big deal if they’re also nursing calves.

Female baleens are bigger than the males, sometimes by up to 2 mtrs (6 feet). The females apparently need the extra size since they fast during winter migrations from feeding grounds to breeding grounds while suckling their calves.

Toothed Whales

Of 90 whale species, 76 are toothed and only 11 are baleen. Dolphins and porpoises, Orcas, and even Moby Dick (a sperm whale) are of the toothed variety.

Toothed whales have sharp teeth that are designed to grab individual prey animals. That means toothed whales hunt bigger prey than baleen whales do. Their diets include fish, squid, birds, mammals, and anything else they can catch. Orcas are called Killer whales for a reason. They hunt warm-blooded animals like penguins, seals, and even other whales.

Other than Sperm whales, most toothed whales are smaller and more agile than baleens.
Toothed whales use echolocation to hunt, much like bats do. Echolocation is the practice of emitting sounds that bounce off objects, thereby providing a mental picture of the animal’s environment. Whales emit clicks that echo back any change in their surroundings.

Toothed whales have only one blow-hole, unlike baleen whales. Most Odontocets have a fatty lens at the front of their heads called a melon. This melon might help focus and transmit echolocation sounds that are generated inside the skull.

Males are bigger than females, but both sexes tend to have battle scars from minor and major disagreements with others. Orcas can be sexed and identified by the shape, size, and saddle (white patch) of their dorsal fins.

Of course, some species are identified by their tails. Something we’re grateful is not true for us humans.

Whales are warm-blooded animals that must “breach” to the surface to breathe air. Most mammals breathe through their mouths as well as their nostrils, but whales have airways – called breathing holes – that are separate from their mouths.

Unlike our nostrils, breathing holes are on top of whales’ heads. They can breathe while staying mostly submerged, and some even breathe while eating. Whales hold their breath until they decide to expel it, which they do in sudden bursts called “blows.” They’re voluntary breathers, not involuntary breathers like the rest of us. Baleen whales have two blow holes, and toothed whales have one.

Whales also differ from other mammals in that they give birth in water. Calves must be guided to the surface for their first breath of air.

Many baleen whales migrate long distances from feeding areas to breeding grounds. Antarctic humpbacks travel some of the longest distances. They feed in waters off the Western Antarctic Peninsula, and then swim north to a breeding area on the equator near Columbia.

Whales have boneless horizontal tail fins, or rear flippers. The whale propels forward by moving these “flukes” up and down.

To help with deep diving, whales have a high level of myoglobin in their muscles. This red pigment is like hemoglobin in that it stores oxygen in the muscles. The oxygen is replaced when the whale surfaces.

Whales maintain their core body temperatures with the help of a heavy dose of blubber that can comprise up to 30-40% of their total body weight. They also have a specialized heat-exchange system that keeps their vital organs warm in cold water or conversely cools off their surface area when whales overheat.

Bigger whale species collect external parasites such as barnacles, diatoms (algae), and whale lice. These creatures hide in the nooks and crannies of a whale’s skin where they won’t be washed away, feeding on the whale’s shedding skin and sometimes on its flesh wounds. Breaching is thought to help remove these parasites and dead skin.

Breaching might also be associated with taking a look around, avoiding predators or collisions with other whales and boats, or just to say howdy to the neighbors.

Whale TalkWhales are experts in underwater communication. Sound is important to whales because it transmits approximately 4-1/2 times faster in water than it does in air. Plus, it’s harder to see under water.

Southern right whales might breach to communicate with each other. Their thumping sounds can be heard more than one km (2/3 ml) away.

Sound is not only used to communicate, but it’s also used for echolocation. Toothed whales use higher frequencies than baleens do. These higher frequencies travel shorter distances than the lower frequencies, which may travel hundreds or thousands of kilometers/miles.

Fin and Blue whales voice low rumblings that are outside of human hearing, and dolphins talk in high whistles and clicks.

Humpbacks are known to “sing” complex songs of interesting snorts, chirps, yips, yaps, and whoos that might last 10 to 15 minutes. It takes a student of music theory to decipher the different phrases and themes that compose these haunting whale tunes.

But for a humpback it’s a simple matter of love. Only the male humpbacks sing, and they most likely croon to attract females. The moral to the story is: If you want a mate, make sure you’re singing from the right songbook… and please try to stay on pitch for the sake of your fellow humpbacks.

I was almost getting mad for my dear but now ugly stones------these two prehnites,my favorite stones. I found them in a stones' store excitedly. They were so raw and pretty at that time before turned into finishing. I hate the factory in which I brought them to manafacture. I swear I will never go to that factory again. So ugly setting and polishing!! Moreover, they costed me so much money,but the factory refused to modify!

I like prehnites very much. Though it's secondary mineral,not rare or precious,I still like it's fiber. It just seems like a buddle of green in spring, so nice and fresh.

Now I have to have them modified in another factory. I hope they'll be better, or they'll be pities and regrets.

"Hmmmmm.....I think it's a big day." My husband said.
"Yes,it's a big day,but WHAT IS IT?!" I was with no patience.
"The day of our wedding!" Fortunately,he still remembered.
"Our wedding anniversary." I corrected it and then said sweetly,"So, darling, what will you do at that day?"

(I hoped he would still remember what I mention frequently in these days------ "I want perfume, a bottle of perfume, actually I don't care about the price but I think a high-end-brand one will make your honey more pretty and lovely.Don't you agree ,darling?")

"Hmmmmmmmm......I would like to say 100 times I LOVE YOU for you!"
"........."After a long time heart-breaking silence, I said distinctly,"O---K, then I will see whether you can still have your meals when you finish."

Everyone knows that penguins are those cute, portly, flightless birds that wear tuxedos while waddling and toddling over ice and snow. Except for The Penguin (Batman’s arch nemesis) and a few other evil-doers, popular culture has stereotyped penguins as endearing, fun, friendly and playful.

As the movie March of the Penguins eloquently documents, there’s a lot more to an Emperor than his clothes.

Penguins typically like cold water, plus they don’t fly. Unless they hitch a ride on a cruise ship, they’re stuck in the southern hemisphere.

Here are more clues about Emperor Penguins:

Emperor penguins are the largest of all the penguins. They stand almost 4 ft. (1.2 meters) tall and weigh 70 to 90 lbs. (30 to 40 kg.). They live and breed at the beginning of winter, on the fast ice all around the Antarctic continent. The total population is estimated to be about 200,000 breeding pairs. Emperor penguins can mate when they are 4 years old and can live to be 20 years of age.

Emperors live in the coldest climate on earth. Temperatures can drop as low as -140 degrees Fahrenheit (-60 degrees Celsius) on the Antarctic ice. After mating, the female lays one large egg. The egg is then immediately rolled to the top of the male's feet. The egg is then incubated or kept warm on the male's feet by a thick fold of skin that hangs from the belly of the male. The males manage to survive by standing huddled in groups for up to 9 weeks. During this time the female returns to the open sea to feed. During the time the male incubates the egg, he may lose about half his body weight because he does not eat.

When the egg hatches the female returns to care for the chick. Once the female returns, the male will go to the open sea to feed. The male will return in a few weeks and both male and female will tend to the chick by keeping it warm and feeding it food from their stomachs. After 7 weeks of care, the chicks form groups called "crèches" and huddle together for protection and warmth. They are still fed by the parents. The chicks know their parents by the sound of their call. The chicks are fully grown in 6 months, which is the beginning of the summer season in the Antarctic. At this time all the penguins return to the open sea.

The shape of their body helps them to survive. They have short wings that help them to dive up to 900 feet to catch larger fish. They can swim 10-15 kilometers an hour which lets them escape their main enemy, the leopard seal. They can stay warm because they have a thick layer of down under the outer feathers and a layer of blubber. The layer of downy feathers trap air that keeps the body heat in and cold air and water out. They also have large amounts of body oil that aids in keeping them dry in the water.

Penguins ward off the cold by huddling in a big group. They constantly move so that the warm guys in the middle rotate to the outside and the colder folks take a turn in the center.

As any reputable IAATO tour operator will tell you: Don’t stress the wildlife! When visiting your penguin friends, keep your distance. Make sure you stay at least 50 feet from nests and follow the no-touch rule. Just don’t expect the penguins to read the same Interspecies Interaction Instruction Manual. Curious and fearless by nature, you can expect them to back you into a glacier, stalk you mercilessly, grab your pack, and boldly introduce themselves to the most timid tourist.
